Sophie was 'painfully introverted'



Sophie used to be painfully shy, her friend has revealed.

Courtney Davies told the Daily Star that she used to have to speak for Sophie.

She explained: "At primary school, I had to talk on her behalf because she was so shy. I even had to ask if she could go to the toilet."

Davies added that Sophie only gained confidence when she fulfilled her dream of becoming a model.

"The boys only really started paying her attention after her first topless modelling job on her 18th birthday," she said.

Davina: 'Don't tell me if you don't like BB'



Davina McCall has asked disgruntled viewers to stop bombarding her with their complaints about the tenth series of Big Brother.

The reality show's presenter said: "If you are, for some unknown reason, not enjoying BB please don’t tell me. It’s really harshing my mellow."

She spoke of her frustration at her ambassadorial role for Big Brother during an appearance on Jonathan Ross's chatshow last week.

"I’m really in the firing line. Whenever I go out I get abuse from start to finish about presenting Big Brother. People are so snobby about it," she said.

"It’s just an entertainment programme."

McCall recently confirmed that despite attracting one million less viewers per night than in 2008, the programme will return for an eleventh series in 2010.

Sophie, Kris 'to be locked in love room'



Sophie and Kris will be locked in a room together to see if their relationship is genuine, rumours suggest.

The pair will be locked up together for two days to find out how well they know each other, according to the Daily Star.

They will have to answer difficult questions about each other and listen to their conversations with fellow housemates.

"We want to make them feel really uncomfortable to see if what's going on between them is real or not," a source explained.

Meanwhile, Sophie's friend Courtney Davies has admitted that she does not like Kris. She added: "Sophie can do so much better than him, not to mention that he's actually got a girlfriend."

Big Brother banned fake romances at the beginning of this series, and Sophie and Kris have already been asked about their relationship in the Diary Room. Yesterday, during the live nominations, Freddie argued that Kris does not have genuine feelings for Sophie.

Housemates not told about Jackson death



Big Brother contestants will not be informed that popstar Michael Jackson has died at the age of 50.

The show's producers have decided that telling the housemates would breach rules which forbid contestants from having any contact with the outside world, The Mirror reports.

A show spokeswoman told the newspaper: "If it was a relative we would speak to their family and tell them in private.

"But to tell them about Michael Jackson would break the part of the rules that we don't let them have any contact with the outside world while they're in the house."

However, one of the housemates will find out this evening as either Halfwit or Angel will be evicted.

Channel 4 defend live feed axing

No change will be made until at least next year

Day 24: Channel 4 has defended their decision to axe the live feed, insisting that the removal of the service has not affected the curent series.

The 24 hour live feed service was removed by Channel 4 earlier this year, sparking many complaints from fans of the show.

Despite viewing figures falling to just 1.6 million for last night’s eviction, Channel 4 insist that the change has not affected the show’s popularity.

A spokesman told The Daily Star: “The proportion of fans who have been in touch with Big Brother regarding the live feed is small and wouldn’t account for a drop in viewership.”

He continued: “Our official figures show that on average 38,000 people watched the late night streaming between midnight and 3am last year.”

Fans have complained that without the live feed, the main concept of the show has been taken away, making the whole series “pointless”.

Prior to the launch, viewers threatened to boycott the series. Ratings have hit all time lows, with BB10 currently averaging about 2.2m according to overnight figures, over 1 million down from last year.

In a glimmer of hope, Channel 4 has said that they would reconsider the decision, however no change could be made until next year.

The spokesperson said: “We review plans and programming every year after each series. So yes we will also review streaming too.”

Paul Danan fancies BB10 Sophie



Actor Paul Danan has admitted that he fancies Big Brother 10 housemate Sophie, calling her "cute".

On tonight’s Big Brother's Little Brother, presenter George Lamb quizzed guest Danan on the housemate he was most attracted to.

He said that glamour model Sophie was his pick but added that they would not last in a relationship because she "is not that switched on".

When asked which of the contestants he wouldn’t like to be stuck on a desert island with, he said: "The wolfman (Marcus), because he scares me a little, and he’s creepy with that Noirin girl."

He also explained that he would not get involved with the Dubliner, and that she was "definitely playing" the other housemates.

Best friend defends "womaniser" Kris



Kris's best friend has rejected claims that the housemate is a "womaniser", while speaking on Big Brother's Little Brother.

Quizzed by presenter George Lamb, university friend Darren said that Kris was not playing Sophie and that he did not enter the house to pick up women.

"He’s not that corny [to use chat up lines]... He stands back, and the girls chat him up. He’s like a lion looking at the antelope, and then he pounces," claimed Darren.

He also denied the possibility of Kris moving on to another housemate if Sophie was evicted, adding that the visual merchandiser was "not like that".

Angel 'wants to have sex change'



Former housemate Angel wants to have a sex change, according to reports.

Speaking to Star magazine, Angel's adopted father Clinton McKenzie explained that the 35-year-old wants the operation so that she can become a world-champion male boxer.

He said: "She wants to become a man and fight men in the ring. She's obsessed with boxing and will do absolutely anything to live her dream."

Angel has allegedly already completed the initial stages of hormone therapy after consulting a specialist in Harley Street.

"Angel grew a moustache and beard while taking the drugs," her father revealed. "It was a proper beard that she had to keep shaving off and her voice changed a lot when she was on them, too."

He added that he had worried about Angel's decision, admitting: "When Angel told me of her plans I was petrified. I told her she was mad. I said that I wanted nothing to do with it. But she's very stubborn."

Angel was evicted from the house last Friday with 81% of the public vote.

Brian Belo wants Kris, Freddie face-off



Big Brother 8 winner Brian has revealed that he would like to see an eviction battle between Kris and Freddie.

Writing for Heatworld, the former housemate said that he does not like the way Kris has been treating the Oxford graduate.

"Kris likes to pick at any little thing that Freddie does and magnify it to be the worst crime in the world," he remarked. "Kris likes to use Halfwit as a scapegoat to channel all his frustrations towards."

He added: "I've said for weeks that Team Kris controls the house, but I think his attitude towards Halfwit has been changing over the last couple of days. It's gone from harmless prodding and poking to full-on rudeness."

Brian admitted that he would like Kris to stay in the house for a while because he makes the dynamic interesting, but commented: "When he does eventually leave, I want him up against Halfwit one on one. Can you imagine how livid he'll be if he's evicted over his arch-nemesis?"

Saffia: 'BB is mind-numbing madness'



Former housemate Saffia has spoken out about her time in the Big Brother house, branding it "mind-numbing madness".

Speaking to her hometown's Hucknall Dispatch newspaper, she described the boredom she experienced as a housemate.

"You could have a mental breakdown in there. It wrecks your head," she said. "There is absolutely nothing to do."

The single mum revealed how she, along with fellow housemates Kris and Charlie, would make up games involving random objects around the house.

"Your mind goes numb. The house is very small, much smaller than it looks on TV.

"You just cannot get away from anything or anyone," she said.

She also described the food rationing as "so stressful", and something she was unable to cope with.

She said: "People would just eat what they wanted. There was nothing in the cupboards. It was really difficult. You flip over the slightest thing."

The beauty consultant walked out of the house after just eight days, citing her two children as the reason for her decision.

Racist graffiti painted by Noirin's home



Racist graffiti has been painted near Noirin's home, her mother has revealed.

Noirin's mother Jacinta, who is originally from Kenya, came across the slurs when walking her children to school, the Herald reports.

"That has been really upsetting," Jacinta admitted. "There is no doubt that is directed at us because the comments are very clear. Some people think they know who did it, but we're not sure."

She added: "I don't mind Noirin kissing whoever but this writing has really upset me. It's just been done over the last few days and I noticed it when I was walking the kids to school. I tried to explain it to them but they were upset, too."

The family has not yet been in touch with the council to get the graffiti removed.

However, Jacinta explained that she was remaining positive, adding that most people had been "very good and friendly".

She went on to say that she was happy with how Noirin was behaving in the house. "She's doing really well and I'm very proud of her," Jacinta said. "She is good with people and that is something I love about Noirin."

Big Brother 'should give fans live feed'

Jack Whitehall has said that Big Brother should bring back the live feed.

The former Big Brother's Big Mouth presenter told DS that show bosses would do well to listen to the programme's most avid fans.

Whitehall said: "I think you've got to give the people who are fans of it what they want. If that's something that they enjoy watching then it probably should be there.

"I always thought they should do something properly interactive with it, where you could vote for stuff that actually happened. You could vote to burn all the furniture!"

The TNT Show host added that he "really enjoyed" his time working on the Big Brother spinoff before he was replaced by Davina McCall on this year's series.

He continued: "It was upsetting not to be working with the guys who are on it because it was fun, but there are other things to keep your mind away from it.

"All I ever wanted to do was Edinburgh and write my own stand-up show and I wouldn't have been able to have done that if I stayed on with Big Mouth. It was an either or."

Whitehall: 'Still a place for BB on TV'



Jack Whitehall has said that there is still a place for Big Brother on TV despite falling viewing figures.

The former Big Brother's Big Mouth host admitted that he did not think that the programme would be cancelled as long as people were watching and enjoying it.

Whitehall told DS: "I'd never say that I was the most avid Big Brother fan, but I never understand the kind of people who attack it. I think there's not really much point in attacking it.

"It is what it is and it doesn't pretend to be anything other than an entertaining reality TV show. I think there's quite a lot of snobbery in people that watch TV and are critical of things like Big Brother."

He added: "I love the show, but I always think that The Apprentice is essentially Big Brother in suits. People deem it as more acceptable but it's the same premise. It's just entertainment and watching people make idiots of themselves and be appalling at social interaction.

"I still think there's a place for Big Brother on TV. It's cheap as well. Massive dramas cost so much to make, and they'll be the ones that will probably suffer. So if there are any Poirot fans reading DS, I would be worried!"

Sree in trouble over dyslexia comments?



Big Brother producers are reportedly launching an investigation after they received complaints that Sree had taunted Freddie.

According to reports, viewers were unhappy when Sree insulted the entrepreneur with regards to his dyslexia during an argument.

The row, over the use of some garlic, saw Sree remark: "You're a dyslexic student from Oxford - what's 15 times 15?"

Sree and Freddie face the public vote tonight.
